These photographs are part of the ongoing campaign ‘Holidays that Harm’, commissioned by World Animal Protection Australia, a charity working to end the exploitation of animals in entertainment. From 2017 to present, updated reports expose the cruelty and suffering at wildlife venues and tourism operations in Bali and Lombok. Thousands of animals are captured or bred in captivity for a demeaning, cruel life of performing, being ridden, or being held and used as photo props for tourists. This suffering is facilitated by the widespread ignorance of tourists and the tourism industry that still largely sees wild animals as merely commodities to abuse for profit and human entertainment.
