This unique tradition, known as Kuluwung/Adu Karbit, is a communal tradition from West Java. It brings communities together through the sound of large wooden cannons measuring anywhere from two to eleven meters long, the cannons are fired using carbide, producing loud explosions that echo through the surrounding landscape. Two neighboring villages take turns firing their kuluwung as a symbol of community ties and togetherness, while also expressing their joy in celebrating the days following Eid al-Fitr.
